Chewy Cherry Crunchies

Method

  1.  Put the butter in a large saucepan and melt over a low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until the mixture is completely melted, then remove from the heat.
  2.  Add the cherry flavouring, along with the food colouring if you wish. Next, add the Rice Krispies and stir until well coated.
  3.  Using a buttered spatula, press the mixture evenly into a 13" x 9" x 2" greased baking tray. Allow to cool.
  4.  Cut into 2" squares and enjoy!

Microwave directions

Heat the butter and marshmallows in a microwave-safe bowl on HIGH for 3 minutes. After 2 minutes, stir the mixture until it's smooth. Next, add the cherry flavouring and food colouring, mixing until well combined. Then simply follow steps 2-4 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.

  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 300g (about 40) marshmallows
  • 2 teaspoons cherry flavouring
  • 1 teaspoon red food colouring (optional)
  • 6 cups Kellogg's Rice Krispies
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries
