Improving Transport Efficiency
Improving fuel efficiency by reducing transport miles is a logistical challenge many companies face. We're no different in that respect. But we've looked at every possible angle and have found a range of ways to use less fuel and reduce road miles. These include controlling the speed our trucks travel at, and the length of time they spend idling.
Delivering fewer emissions together with Kimberley-Clark and TDG
Between 2006-2009, we managed to reduce road miles. This was due in large part to the fact we teamed up with global health and hygiene company Kimberley-Clark and the logistics company TDG. It's one of the UK's first blue chip examples of collaboration – a three-way partnership that demonstrates how a modern business approach generates significant value in terms of commercial and environmental benefits.
It's a simple enough idea: Kimberley-Clark delivers to many of the retail outlets that we do – so why not share transport costs? In 2006, the three companies started to work together to see if they could make a difference and we've achieved these reductions so far:
270,000 fewer transportation miles.
30,000 fewer gallons of diesel consumed.
380,000kg less of CO2e.
We have consumed 30,000 fewer gallons of diesel since 2006
