Towards Sustainable Agriculture
We know from our Life Cycle work that one of our biggest impacts on the environment is in the fields where our ingredients grow.
While greenhouse gas emissions and their contribution to climate change are important, there are other environmental issues that are just as critical; for example, water use, biodiversity and ecosystems.
As Kellogg’s does not own the fields where our ingredients are grown, we are working with our suppliers to fully understand the environmental impact of the rice, corn, wheat and other ingredients we use. By doing this, we're increasing our knowledge and understanding of our supply chain – which in turn will help us identify opportunities to infuence real environmental improvements and promote sustainable practices in production agriculture.
Our vision for sustainable agriculture is to:
Identify agricultural practices and strategies that will help meet the world’s growing need for safe, nutritious food.
Reduce environmental impacts.
Improve the social and economic wellbeing of agricultural communities.
