Boat Race

Players are split into teams of 6-8 and line up in rows, facing the back of the person in front of them. The teams each form a ‘boat’ by sitting down with their legs either side of the person in front of them. When the race starts, all members of the team move forward as fast as they can whilst staying sat down and remaining in the ‘boat’ shape. The winner is the first team to touch the finish line with their hand.

Over and Under

Children stand in two lines with a gap of about 50cm between each person. The person at the front of the row should be about six metres from finish line. Each team is given a ball and when the race starts, the child at the front of each row must pass this ball over their head to the child behind them. This child takes the ball and passes it through their legs to the person behind them, and so on. When the ball reaches the last person in the row, they run to the front of the row and pass the ball over their head to the person behind. The game continues until everyone in the team has run to the front and passed the ball. The last member of the team must run to the finish line.

TV Tag

Very similar to regular ‘tag’, in that there is a person who is ‘it’ trying to tag everyone else. When the person who is ‘it’ tags someone, they remain frozen until someone else comes up, tags them, and yells out the name of a TV show. TV show names can only be used once, so it gets the brain working and it gets harder and harder to free frozen people. (This ca also played with movies, fairy tale characters, book titles, etc.)
