The truth about our food
Kellogg’s breakfast cereals are a low salt choice
Breakfast cereal contains much less salt than you’d think. According to the annual survey* about our shopping habits, breakfast cereals account for only 2.7% of the total salt in the nation’s supermarket trolley - that’s less salt than you’ll find in foods like fresh meat (6.5%) or even milk (5%).
We understand that comparing percentages can be mind boggling but when you know that a 30g bowl of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies or Kellogg’s Cornflakes contains just half a gram of salt (that’s less than two slices of white bread) you can be assured.
For the last 11 years we have been reducing the amount of salt in our products. We know that a high salt intake can be a major factor in high blood pressure, which can increase the risk of a heart attack and stroke. And, that’s why in the past 11 years we’ve reduced the amount of salt in our food by 39%.
To help you see exactly how much salt is in each serving, we’ve clearly labelled the front of each pack. This will tell you what your daily salt intake should be.
