GDAs at a glance
Guideline Daily Amounts, or GDAs, provide an ‘at a glance’ guide to the percentage of calories, fats, salts and sugars present in the food you buy. You can use them to make sure you’re sticking as closely as possible to the amounts recommended by nutritionists and even to ‘play off’ one meal against another. So if you eat a food high in a particular nutrient such as fat or salt at one meal, for instance, you can then balance your diet by choosing something lower in those ingredients for the rest of the day.
Our easy to follow GDA tables for women will help you plan your shopping and meals for a healthy, varied and balanced diet. Don’t forget, you can work out the GDAs in the food you eat with our interactive GDA calculator too.
