Eating disorders

All eating disorders are serious illnesses that require specialist medical care.

One of the reasons they can be so damaging is that they are often difficult to detect.

Weight loss, one of the most obvious physical signs of Anorexia Nervosa, for example, is often disguised by wearing baggy clothes.

Often, it is changes in behaviour that alert friends and family to an eating disorder.

Sufferers often become highly self-critical or worry constantly about what other people think. They can become obsessive about food, calories or exercise.

However it comes to light, the sooner you tackle an eating disorder, the better chance you have of a positive outcome.

If you think you or a member of your family may be suffering from an eating disorder talk to your GP or experts at the Eating Disorders Association www.edauk.co.uk
