Ben Palin – Finance

Financial Analyst

My main role is at month-end where I play a key role in making sure all the accounts balance.

I graduated in 2005 and first met Kellogg’s at the G-MEX recruitment fair. I applied successfully and started in March 2006. I have to say I’ve really enjoyed working here so far.

There’s a real hard-working attitude in a relaxed environment where a non-blame culture is actively promoted. You’ve always got lots to do, but you receive the help and support to get through it. Kellogg’s are even paying for me to do my CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualification, which can take 2 or 3 years. This is a big commitment from them and makes me feel valued as they’re really investing in me.

This is a great place to work with lots of fringe benefits. Little things like flexible working, free parking and early finishing in the summer really separate Kellogg’s from other employers. The environment is positive and you’re constantly encouraged, shown what your career options are and receive continuous training. Even the social aspect is great. Almost every month Kellogg’s organise an event for your team. This totally sums up the friendly rewarding environment here.

I enjoy my job, but it’s the teamworking ethic that holds everything together. For example, when it’s month-end I need to put in some quite long hours, but with the support from the team it doesn’t feel like hard work. Looking to the future, I’m hoping to stay in finance, get my CIMA, gain experience and then move forward. I’m hoping I may even have opportunities to travel within Kellogg’s too.
